Profit Improvement Programs

Criteria

The Profit Improvement Programs consist of Modules designed to improve a firm’s profitability based on the following criteria:

Wherever possible:

  • The Program uses existing firm and people strengths.

  • Strategies are designed to leverage existing investments in technology and people.

  • Recommendations are (relatively) simple to implement.

  • Minimal training and investment is necessary in order to achieve results.

Modules

The Profit Improvement Program consists of a series of Modules that address a broad range of functional areas:

  • Marketing
Improve the results of marketing efforts.
    Bond clients to the firm.

  • Human Resources
Improve productivity and efficiency of all personnel.
    Reduce staff and partner turnover.

  • Technology
Improve gains from existing investment in technology.
Reduce vulnerabilities arising from improper or inappropriate use of technology.

  • Intellectual capital (see Knowledge Management)
Improve accessibility to knowledge that exists within the firm.
Reduce inefficiencies arising out of duplication of effort, reinvention of processes and inefficient and unnecessary learning curves.

  • Time Management
Improve recoveries from time invested in the practice (chargeable and non-chargeable).
Reduce stress and the resulting falloff in productivity arising from poor time management.

  • Work Flow
Speed up delivery of work product.
Enhance controls over commitments, production and engagement management.

Module Strategy

Each Module involves two Stages:

Stage One (Assessment phase)

During this phase Mort performs an onsite review that is focused on the topical area of the Module. He analyses current performance, dialogues with partners and others and then prepares recommendations including goals and benchmarks.

Stage Two (Implementation phase)

During this phase, Morden works with the firm in the implementation of the recommendations. He trains and coaches as needed to achieve program goals.

Who is this for?

The Profit Improvement Program can be adapted to accommodate any size of firm.

If distance and location present challenges, then various distance techniques such as fax, e-mail, phone, tele-conferencing, video conferencing and Instant Messaging will be utilized.
